JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih resigned as Minister of Health. This was disclosed Endang to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, when the President visited him at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Central Jakarta, Thursday (04/26/2012).
Endang currently hospitalized due to lung cancer. He was treated since April 20. "We communicate within. He in an intensive treatment period. Bu Endang also formally request his resignation to me," the president said after visiting Endang with the First Lady, Ani Yudhoyono.
Endang prompted the resignation so that he can concentrate for a maximal treatment. President can not hide her sadness knowing that Endang request. According to him, Endang so far it is working properly in carrying out their duties in the Ministry of Health.
"I was touched. For so Menkes, Endang mother worked day and night. All out. He was sick, but did not reduce morale," said Yudhoyono.
Endang was appointed Minister of Health in the United Indonesia Cabinet II in October 2009. The appointment of ministers born in Jakarta, February 1, 1955, by the President was quite surprising because it was announced at the last moment.
