MOTOR-Belarus to manufacture engines Haryana

Belarus, a land-locked country west of Russia, has proposed to set up an engine assembly and manufacturing unit of Minsk Motor in Haryana.
The state government has offered to provide land for the plant at an appropriate location.

“Minsk Motor company is also manufacturing a maximum number of tractor and combine harvester engines annually. We are looking forward to set up a big unit in Haryana,” Ambassador Vitaly A. Prima said after a meeting with Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Minsk Motor is the largest Belarusian Company and a leading manufacturer of diesel engines of 50-350 horse power for various applications like automobiles, tractor, and road building machinery, buses, and combine harvesters. These engines are easy to operate and require little maintenance.

Hooda has assured the Belarus officials that Minsk Motor could set up its unit either at the industrial model township area in Rohtak or at other industrial townships which would soon come up in the state. Hooda has offered full support of the state government to Belarus for setting up this unit in Haryana.

“Haryana has become a popular destination for the national and international companies to set up their ventures, and considering the industrial friendly atmosphere being provided by the State government, Belarus has selected Haryana as the proper place to set up this unit,” said Prima.
Haryana and Belarus, a former Soviet republic, are also looking forward to set up trade relations in the fields of agriculture marketing, packaging and storage of food grains.

Bank of India drops hints of rate cut in January

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Tuesday kept key policy rates unchanged but hinted at cutting rates in January, saying the focus of the monetary policy would now shift to spurring growth as inflationary pressures are easing.

“In view of inflation pressures ebbing, monetary policy has to increasingly shift focus and respond to the threats to growth from this point onward,” RBI Governor D. Subbarao said in the mid-quarter review of monetary policy. The central bank has kept repo rate, the rate at which it lends to the commercial bank, unchanged at 8 percent. Reverse repo rate, interest rates the central bank pays to the commercial banks on their money kept, remains unchanged at 7 percent.

The RBI also kept the cash reserve ratio (CRR), proportion of money commercial banks have to park with the central bank, unchanged at 4.25 percent, after lowering it the previous two policy reviews.

The central bank’s action means there would be no change in lending and deposit rates by the commercial banks. Overall cost of borrowings, equated monthly installments (EMIs) and interest rates on fixed and other deposits will remain unchanged.

Reacting to the central bank’s move, State Bank of India (SBI) chairman Pratip Chaudhuri said the commercial banks are unlikely to cut rates unless there easing in the monetary policy.

Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said the RBI needed to cut rates to boost economic growth.

“Over a longer period of time, steps are needed to bring down the interest rate. RBI looks at these things independently and we should give them freedom to decide on interest rates,” Ahluwalia said.

In the second quarter review of monetary policy Oct 30, the RBI had lowered the CRR by 0.25 percent, but had kept unchanged the repo and reverse repo rates, which determine lending and borrowing rates by commercial banks.

As per latest data released last week, the annual rate of inflation based on wholesale price index declined to a 10-month low of 7.24 percent in November against 7.45 percent in the previous month, according to the government data released last week.

However, wholesale price-based food inflation increased to 8.50 percent in November this year from 8.32 percent recorded in the corresponding month of previous year.

This was largely due to an exponential rise in the prices of cereals, rice, wheat and pulses, according to data released by the ministry of commerce and industry.

“The new combined (rural and urban) CPI (consumer price index) inflation increased in November, reflecting sustained food inflation pressures, particularly in respect of vegetables, cereals, pulses, oils and fats,” the bank said.

Meanwhile, the growth in the country’s gross domestic product in the second quarter of this fiscal at 5.3 percent was marginally lower than the 5.5 percent logged during the first quarter — which has been a matter of concern for all stakeholders.

But the Reserve Bank relented in giving in to demands for a rate cut citing inflation as a key reason. However, in its future guidance the RBI said there is a possibility of policy easing in the fourth quarter, if the core inflation continues to decline.

“In view of inflation pressures ebbing, monetary policy has to increasingly shift focus and respond to the threats to growth from this point onwards. Liquidity conditions will be managed with a view to supporting growth as stated in the SQR (second quarter review), thereby preparing the ground for further shifting the policy stance to support growth,” it said.

21-12-2012 TOPIC HOT

It's here, at last! So many prophesies have been cast, so many books have been written, so many lectures have been given on this topic, the Winter Solstice 2012. What can we believe about the forecast of “Doomsday” (one of the many interpretations of the end of the Mayan Calendar)? I have always found this subject interesting and I believe that everybody should be aware of it because it actually concerns us all, mankind and life on the planet in general. It is a topic that should be looked at with eyes wide open, with an alert mind, a little logic, some intuition and a deep feeling.
No one can deny that great changes have being taking place for quite some time and — it’s evident — at a greater speed than before. Such changes are happening all over the world and concern the physical/material level as well as the spiritual/psychological one. We keep on hearing about floods and earthquakes more often than in previous years, climate and temperature are behaving in a most unusual way. Many things seem to have lost their balance.
The minds of too many human beings are totally immersed in a technological world that separates them more and more from reality, from positive feelings, from proper interaction. Furthermore, on an almost daily basis do we hear about scandals concerning corruption, betrayals, pedophilia, frauds, larceny and torture, shootings… Yes, yes, all these crimes have always existed. But, now, they seem to have become a daily news here, there and everywhere.
Mankind is unhappy, dissatisfied, more aggressive than ever and the result is a dreadful turmoil that shakes the world from its foundations. Einstein said that the Earth’s axis will tilt and some remarkable consequences might be felt. Well, no one is considered a “prophet” here and now, and most dismiss such considerations as idle. “Doomsday”? Hard to say if it will or if won’t happen. TODAY is 21/12/2012 and, if you are reading these lines, it means that — at least up to this very moment — we are still alive, the world still exists and it has evidently not come to an end. But, probably, this is not even the really important point. I am deeply convinced that mankind has reached a stage in its existence where self-examination and self-assessment are of paramount importance. We must all find out what our true values are, what our true motivations are, what “life” means to us, what aspirations we are sheltering in our hearts, what we are willing to “do”. No one can afford to move forward with their eyes metaphorically closed. “Awareness” is be the new word/motto to which every human being should be encouraged to found his or her life upon. We need a huge leap into a new perspective, into a new way of perceiving reality, into a novel understanding of the real place each of us has in the economy of the Universe. Time has come to make meaningful changes. And we must do it, NOW! The survival of the world is, literally, in our hands.

Some believe Friday is doomsday on the Mayan calendar

There may be no one left on Earth to say TGIF this week.

Some believe the world is coming to an end Friday -- on 12/21/12 -- which is when an important phase on the ancient calendar of the Mayan people terminates.

Mayans don't buy it.

At least the ones living in the city of Merida, Mexico, don't. Neither does anyone in the Mayan village of Yaxuna. They know the calendar their ancestors left them is about to absolve a key phase -- the end of an era and the heralding of a new one -- but they don't think we're all gonna die.

"It's an era. We are lucky to see how it ends," said wood carver Santos Esteban in Yaxuna, a sleepy village of fewer than 700 Mayans, located in a territory that once belonged to the ancient kingdom founded around 2000 B.C.

He feels it is a momentous occasion and is looking forward to the start of the new age. He is not afraid.

"Lots of people say it's the end of the world, but we don't believe that," he said.

People in his village will keep living much as they have, preferring hand-built, palm-thatch huts to concrete buildings, and baking tortillas on an open flame.

For those less optimistic than the Mayans, an "official" website in the United States has collected links to all the doom articles and videos Internet users can consume.

December212012.com also offers tips on survival and advertisements for the needed gear -- from gas masks to first aid kits and hand-crank radios. Comments are welcome on its Facebook page, which has over 14,000 likes, and website owner "John" from near Louisville, Kentucky, sends out tweets under the handle @December212012.

On the doomsday Facebook page -- in between gloomy superstitious links and user comments -- John has confessed that he does not really believe the world will end on Friday, but thinks that a new era could dawn that may include some improvements for the world. That new era, however, might require a good bit of destruction as well.

John asked posters not to take the whole thing too seriously.

"PLEASE PEOPLE. . . I'm begging you. Do not overreact or make any rash decisions regarding Dec 21st. Anyone who knows anything about the 2012 prophecies, including myself, does not believes that the world is going to end," the Facebook page says.

Indonesia has seen growing contribution of the tourism and creative economy industry to its gross domestic product (GDP) this year, with businesses in the industry expected to be robust next year, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Marie Elka Pangestu said here Wednesday.

Speaking in a session to review the industry's performance throughout this year, Marie said that the industry has a strategic role in advancing the national economy as it has demonstrated significant results in contributing to the country's GDP and workforce recruitment.

It has also helped spur business operations of small and middle- sized companies, the minister added.
Marie said that tourism sector alone has contributed 4 percent to the GDP with a revenue of 296.97 trillion rupiah (about 30.8 billion U.S. dollars) and the employment of 8.53 million people which accounts for 7.72 percent of the country's overall workforce recruitment this year.

21-12-2012 NASA Scientist Says 25 Million Americans Stockpiling Guns, Machetes for Doomsday

December 21, 2012 may or may not be doomsday but apparently at least 25 million people think that there won't be a Christmas this year because of the Mayan apocalypse. That's a pretty scary statistic considering that a good percentage of these people are probably hoarding guns and other weapons to protect themselves from the impending doom. Will these people go crazy on December 20, ahead of the supposed end date?

Apparently, that thought is worrisome to NASA and the US government. A senior NASA scientist went on Current TV in yet another effort to quell the rising panic about the approaching doomsday date. "A lot of young people believe this and that is pretty scary. I hear from kids who say they can't eat, they can't sleep, they're considering suicide..." said NASA scientist David Morrison. "There's a poll that suggest that 25 million Americans don't expect to see Christmas this year...I worry about those people. There's nothing that's going to happen to the earth, no cosmic catastrophe. But it's a little scary to think of millions of people who are storing up guns and ammo and machetes. I just hope they stay in their hole on the 21st and don't come out and make a mess." He's right. If all the people who think the world will be ending on December 21, 2012 come out a day or so ahead of time and kill people, rob stores or cause all out chaos, there really will be a disaster of epic proportions. Are you worried about the 25 million people expecting a doomsday type scenario on 12/21/12? Do you think there will be mass chaos whether the Mayans were right or not? and do you have the 37 items necessary to survive any disaster?
