Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Norbert Baas said that batik is not only characterizes the culture of Indonesia but also plays an important role in the creative economy of Indonesia.
"Works of art of batik, through the rich diversity of forms, motifs and meaning fascinates every visitor who came to Indonesia, batik can therefore play an important role in Indonesia's creative economy," said Norbert Baas at the opening press conference Indonesian Batik exhibition "Living Heritage" in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Norbert said he was personally interested in batik because of the wealth and variety of colors in batik.
"Batik is very beautiful, I personally love the color and motif of imagination," he said.
On the occasion Norbert Baas also said that Indonesia and Germany have much in common, especially in terms of diversity and creativity.
Indonesia Batik exhibition entitled "Living Heritage" held at the National Gallery of Indonesia, Jakarta Centre for twelve days, from January 25 orange February 6, 2012.
Exhibition featuring the artwork of batik artists from Europe, especially Germany and Indonesia also aims to appreciate batik, Indonesia's traditional art style.
Starring established as one of a series of cultural events or German JERIN Indonesia fully supported by the Goethe Institut and EKONID (Indonesia-German Economic Association)
