According Farianna , known all along that there are six regional TNBTS Ranu ( lake ) , namely Ranu Pani , Ranu Regulo , Ranu Kumbolo , Ranu Darungan , Ranu Pakis , Ranu and Tompe . Ranu is formed by volcanic activity in the mountains TNBTS region , notably Mount Bromo and Mount Semeru .
However , until recently the TNBTS not know where Ranu Tompe , so we need to look for the expedition . This expedition is the first major expedition since TNBTS established in 1982 .
Section Staff Protection , Preservation , and Mapping TNBTS , Purnomo Elham , said that the area Ranu Tompe allegedly save the diversity of flora and fauna which are numerous and important . Among the kinds of orchid species and large trees that have not been recorded and measured , as well as birds of prey ( raptors ) , particularly the Javanese eagle . Ranu Tompe diperikirakan also a nesting spot leopard .
The diversity of flora and fauna is believed to be safe , because they are isolated and far from human access . Ranu is estimated to be in the core zone Tompe or TNBTS heart , which is a zone of absolute protection .
Based on maps of the area , Ranu Tompe resort located in the region of the National Park Management ( RPTN ) LOTOS , National Park Management Section III Region , National Park Management Division Region II . Ranu Tompe is on the eastern slope of Mount Semeru at an altitude of 1,774 meters above sea level .
Administratively , Ranu Tompe location in the territory of Lumajang . The geographical position makes Ranu Tompe very vital as water catchments for the Lumajang .
" In the expedition , we invite people who've been there as a guide . Some environmental activists also participated . Reporters may also participate , " Elham said .
