Suddenly Appeared smoky island in the Red Sea

Magic happens in the Red Sea to the west of the bay that separates the Arabian Peninsula with the African continent of Asia. This bay has a new occupant: a smoky island.Islands that appear suddenly was created from an eruption that occurred in the Red Sea earlier this month. Formed from the eruption of volcanic material. So it could be the island will not last long.

According to reports, fishermen witnessed lava bursts as high as 30 meters on December 19, 2011. According to volcanologists from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, Erik Klemetti, was estimated as the day when the eruption began.
Abu seem to radiate from that location on 20th and December 22, 2011, who observed from the instrument's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) onboard the Terra and Aqua satellites owned by the U.S. space agency, NASA.

Meanwhile, ozone monitoring instrument from NASA's Aura satellite detected elevated levels of sulfur dioxide, which is one evidence of the eruption. Then, on December 23, 2011, what is seen looks like a new island in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen.

"I was surprised, the island was growing rapidly," said Klemetti, to Our Amazing Planet Science website.

Volcanic activity occurred along the Zubair Group, a collection of small islands that stretches along the northwest and southeast. The new island is formed of a shield, a kind of mountain that is formed from molten lava, and emerge onto the surface of the sea.

Scientists are now watching the island, to see the extent of its durability.

"Many such islands did not last long, because they are formed from volcanic material. So, they get destroyed by big waves," said Klemetti.
This is not the only newly formed island, other island of the tita-off comes up is Surtsey, Iceland, in the caldera of Mount Anak Krakatau Krakatau, and Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha `apai in Tonga in the South Pacific.
