Indonesia Make Solar Water Treatment

The issue of water is one of the world community's attention other than food and energy issues. Moreover, the water circulation system can be affected by climate change and exploitation of water that is not balanced.
Along with the increasing world population, water is also increasingly rare. Paradigm is currently developing not only the issues related to water storage and efficiency, but rather the use of water in order to achieve prosperity.

"We must be careful before we short of water," said Minister of Technology Gusti Muhammad Hatta said after opening The Sixth Open Science Meeting in Puspitek, Serpong Tangerang, 28 November 2011.
Gusti said the water conditions in Indonesia still faced with the quality, even in quantity, some areas have been able to meet the need for water. "Water quality is declining in Indonesia, one of which is due to the industry," he said.

For that, Gusti, to prevent the production of waste that pollutes the water. In addition, Gusti said before, when he became minister of Environment, he is targeting to reduce industrial waste flowing into the waters up to 50 percent. In addition, he also requires industry to implement three mandatory courses related to industrial waste.

As for the Kemenristek, he said Gusti, it would make as well as providing a simple tool that can be applied in residential areas and villages. "We will provide tools that could be if the water with solar energy," he said.

Gusti also highlights the major cities like Jakarta. He said that if the use of water by the suction of the soil is not observed, then the behavior will threaten Jakarta. "If the law does not run, rapid sea level rise to the mainland," he said.

Jakarta, according to Gusti, still in the low category of storage and water absorption, because ideally 30 percent of the area must meet the green space. Unfortunately, currently only 10 percent of Jakarta's green space category.

To find a solution to the problem of water, together with the Royal Netherlands Academy Kemenristek of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) Netherlands and Indonesia Academy of Sciences (AIPI). Meeting of researchers from two countries will raise water issues from various aspects, including chemical properties, the level of pollution, availability, and social impacts for the community.
