Nokia seemed to improve performance in the two major countries that exist in parts of continental Europe. In fact, in one country, the Finnish company is able to defeat the popular homemade Apple's smart phone, the iPhone.
According to IDC, as quoted from Phone Arena, Monday (08/26/2013), Nokia looks better business in the UK and Italy.
In the land of pizza, Nokia smart phone sales in the second quarter increased 17 percent from year to year or from the same quarter the previous year.
With these achievements, the position of Nokia in Italy rose to second place, still less than the South Korean smartphone vendor, Samsung. Even so, Nokia is still capable of winning on the iPhone.
In the UK, Nokia managed to double smartphone sales to 396,000 units in the second quarter. Unfortunately, the high sales do not improve their position. Nokia still outside the top 5 smart phone UK sellers.
Overall, Nokia sold 1.8 million units of smartphones in Western Europe. This value represents the 11 percent decline from 2012, but still able to bring Nokia to rank 5 companies with the best market in the area during April to June 2013.
Nokia looks to work hard to get back into the competitive landscape of the smart phone world. In recent months, Nokia released a variety of phones based on Windows Phone, such as the Lumia 925 and Lumia 926. Lumia Nokia has also released the 40-megapixel camera, 1020. Nokia Lumia also has a low end to mid end, Lumia 520 and Lumia 625.
