A new study released by NASA provides further evidence that greenhouse gases are the main driving force behind global warming. As news release Good Clean Tech, this study showed an imbalance of energy on planet earth, which calculates the difference between the amount of solar energy absorbed by the earth's surface and the amount sent back to space as heat. According to estimates obtained from this study, between 2005 and 2010 - the Earth absorbs more heat than releasing it again, although lower than the usual solar activity.
When an imbalance of positive - that is, when the planet is absorbing more heat than releasing it back - it means that the global temperature continues to grow even warmer heat.
"The fact That we still see a positive imbalance Despite the prolonged solar minimum is not a surprise given what we've learned about the climate system," said James Hansen, director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies. "But it's worth noting, because it provides unequivocal evidence that the sun does not give the dominant influence on global warming,"
Data were collected using a network of floating temperature monitoring device, which by the NASA named the Argos. Data were collected from the 3400 monitor float, then combined with terrestrial and satellite-based data to form the basis of the study.
“The good news is we know what to do. The good news is, we have everything we need now to respond to the challenge of global warming. We have all the technologies we need, more are being developed, and as they become available and become more affordable when produced in scale, they will make it easier to respond. But we should not wait, we cannot wait, we must not wait.”
